STRATEGY AND INFORMATION TEAM

One Thousand Villages is on a mission to prevent the sexual exploitation and trafficking of girls in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. We achieve this by working in partnership with communities, supporting people to effect change in their local areas. Our approach builds on strengths, both at an individual and local level.

Specifically, we aim to develop activities, programs, processes and resources to improve livelihoods and education in rural communities. Our work is designed to involve men and women together in developing grassroots development initiatives and spaces to raise awareness and discuss gender values and power in their families and communities.  

ABOUT THE ROLE

One Thousand Villages is seeking Strategy and Information team members to join our team and support the development/execution of strategy and communication projects across email, social, and other digital channels; working on issues ranging from tourism, trafficking, online exploitation, community empowerment and human rights.

Team members gain hands-on experience creating content for the development of campaigns and movements, as well as liaising with partners and working with a diverse team whose common goal is nothing less than to the change the world.

You will gain exposure to a range of challenges such as perception, behaviour change and policy change.

You will have opportunities to engage with other NGOs. You will be guided and supported to ensure that your time is spent making an impact for One Thousand Villages and our partner organisations. Team members meet in Melbourne and Bangkok. The positions are 6-month, fixed-term voluntary commitment with the possibility of extension.

It’s important that team members have a deep interest in our work and social justice campaigns. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing social media properties, including creating and updating content calendars. Experience with paid media and placement, testing, and optimization of paid social campaigns and with the creative arts (graphic design / video production / copywriting / animation / illustration) is a plus.

Your role will also consist of conducting research and developing forward plans for effective campaign interventions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Be dedicated to projects and support other Strategy and Information team members

Conduct research to feed into campaign strategy development

Support the team in crafting creative briefs, audience profiles and key communications messages

Contribute to key strategy documents and presentations 

Contribute to internal initiatives and building culture

– Familiarity with digital campaigning and movement-building and/or issue areas of strong relevance to One Thousand Villages mission
