STORY BEHIND OUR NAME

We’re big believers in connecting with people, not just doing things for them.

We get a lot of questions about our name, ‘One Thousand Villages’, and it means a lot to us. Our name reflects our strong connection with villages in the Mekong region and beyond. When I started this journey in Thailand many years ago, I didn’t just want to provide aid – I wanted to build meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life. We come together to address issues like poverty, trafficking, and inequality. The more involved I became, the more I realised that these are not “their” problems, but “our” problems to solve together. One Thousand Villages is about people from different backgrounds uniting to tackle the challenges of poverty, exploitation, and inequality that impact all of us.

Building real relationships, not just giving aid.
